Captain Russell Keeton

Marine Officer Instructor (MOI)

Captain Russell L. Keeton is a native of Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies in May 2017. Immediately following graduation, he attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in August 2017. Upon completion of The Basic School in February of 2018, he was designated as a Military Police Officer. 

Captain Keeton has served as the Platoon Commander of Alpha Company and Battalion Training Officer for the 1st Law Enforcement Battalion (1st LEBn). As the Law Enforcement Liaison Officer for I MEF G7, Expeditionary Operations Training Group, he participated in the Southwest US/Mexico Border Support Mission at the Imperial Beach and Tecate ports of entry. Additionally, Captain Keeton deployed as a Force Protection Officer and Joint Security Coordination Cell Battle Captain for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve. In 2021, Captain Keeton reported to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni where he served as Deputy Provost Marshal. 

Captain Keeton reported to the University of Arizona NROTC in July 2025 where he currently serves as the Marine Officer Instructor preparing midshipmen to commission as 2nd Lieutenants in the United States Marine Corps.
