Angela Gonzales
Commander Gonzales is a native of Tucson, Arizona. She graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.
At sea, Commander Gonzales served aboard USS MOBILE BAY (CG 53) as the Main Propulsion Officer, USS RUSHMORE (LSD 47) as the Auxiliaries Officer, and USS BENFOLD (DDG 65) as the Operations Officer. She also pre-commissioned the USS ZUMWALT (DDG 1000) as the Combat Systems Officer. She served as Executive Officer onboard USS JOHN FINN (DDG 113) and completed a homeport shift to Japan. She has completed five deployments to the Indo-Pacific and Arabian Gulf regions in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.
She attended the Naval Postgraduate School where she earned a Master of Arts degree in Security Studies (Western Hemisphere). For her shore assignment she served as a Placement Officer and Detailer in the Surface Officer Career Management Division (PERS-41) at Navy Personnel Command.
Commander Gonzales has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (One gold star), Navy Achievement Medal and various campaign medals.
